I could do an entire blog just on EWR (Newark) airport! They probably have the worst TSA operation in the country. This past week, eight of the TSA’s finest were fired for–among other things–sleeping on the job.

Shiny Badge doesn’t mind TSA agents who sleep. When they’re sleeping, they’re not stealing your iPads!

CNN is reporting:

Eight Transportation Security Administration screening officers were fired Wednesday from their posts at Newark Liberty Airport in New Jersey for violating proper screening procedures, a TSA official said.

Among the violations lodged against the eight officers was sleeping on the job, the official said. The official, who asked not to be identified, did not specify how many of the eight were caught napping when they were supposed to be checking baggage.

The six men and two women were caught on surveillance camera violating various protocols in December. They were all assigned to the Terminal B screening room, according to the TSA official.

As we said before here on Shiny Badge, “they snooze, we lose.” Perhaps they’re sleepy because they had too much to drink?

To bad us passengers don’t get to rest! We have to wait on long lines while we’re X-Rayed, poked, prodded and stolen from. Even if we’re dead, the TSA doesn’t leave us alone: they’ll dump you on the floor!
