Eight of the TSA’s finest, the Federal Air Marshals who fly with guns to keep us safe, were fired this past week for drinking on the job. Six others were suspended.
LOS ANGELES – The Transportation Security Administration is firing eight federal air marshals for drinking on the job, and suspending six more for failing to report the incident.
The 14 marshals, who work out of the New York field office, were notified Friday and asked to turn in their weapons and credentials, TSA officials said. One probationary employee was terminated immediately. The rest can appeal.
Federal air marshals are armed, non-uniformed officers who fly on commercial flights to protect travelers. They also fan out among other law enforcement organizations during times of heightened security or special national events
It’s just one big drunken frat party for the TSA’s Federal Air Marshals! They fly first class often bumping paying customers out of their seats and leaving them stranded, sometimes splitting up families en route. And then they drink! They can’t wait to get to that luxury hotel at some exotic location for a wild party–all on the taxpayer’s dime.
Despite the fact that we know the TSA is full of abuses, the TSA will never acknowledge a systemic problem. They said in response the same boiler-plate words they always use:
“TSA holds all of its employees to the highest professional and ethical standards and has zero tolerance for misconduct in the workplace,” Melendez said in a statement. “TSA’s decision to remove the individuals involved in the misconduct affirms our strong commitment to the highest standards of conduct and accountability.”
It’s time for Congress to do something about these wasteful drunken scoundrels.
